Messiah’s “Blessing of the Animals” outreach event took place on Saturday, October 3rd, 2015 under cool and damp conditions. About twenty-two members and visitors attended along with about ten animals.
Claire Strand, Messiah’s Director of Outreach, organized the event with the help of church members, Gary and Juli Langford, Outreach Council Representative Jay Ruff and Christine Ryan. Andrew Davis provided music accompaniment. Christine Ryan gave a short mediation with Ellie Mae, her pot-bellied big cuddling inside her sweatshirt. Along with Ellie-Mae, there were a number of dogs, a chinchilla and one cat in attendance. Pastor Scott Peterson took time with each pet and their owners to bless and offer prayers for the animal. Members were also encouraged to bring photos and bring prayer requests forward for pets who remained back home.
The event takes place every other year.
