Great fun, food and fellowship was enjoyed at Sunday’s Halloween Party and Chili-Cookoff.   The annual fellowship event was led this year by Larry Ryan and Greg and Meredith Kilby.   Sarah Walker organized a number of fun Halloween games and activities for the younger kids which were led by Messiah youth.

The fun began just after 4 PM.   The first order of business was the Chili Cook-off judging.  Towers of small tasting bowls were carefully numbered and filled with chilis, some mild, some medium and some that sent folks running for the lemonade / iced tea pitchers.  Congratulations to Mistie Sutko whose Texas, “Five-Alarm” Chili recipe came in first place in the Chili Cook-off.    There were 11 entries to the contest this year.   Bridie Ryan and Amy McCarthy  tied for runner-up honors.  The Hottest Chili award went to Dan Byers.

The costume parade was next   There were five different age categories brought on stage for introductions;  Zero to three, four to seven, eight to twelve, thirteen to eighteen and adults.  A total of 33 kids (of all ages) entered the contest.   Congratulations  the winners, shown above. The creativity and imagination on display this year was truly remarkable as was the fact that there was not a single “Elsa” princess from the movie “Frozen” in attendance!
