Be A Part of a Vibrant, Caring and Loving Ministry
In the first-generation church, the community of believers were meeting each other’s needs by sharing bread together in one another’s homes and caring for the widows. Because of the mixture of Jews and Gentiles, along with rapid growth, some were not having their needs met.
In Acts 6:2-6, the disciples gathered and decided they could not neglect their job of spreading the Good News in order to serve tables. They asked that seven men be chosen from among the people to share in feeding all the followers. Among those chosen was a man named Stephen.
Stephen Leaders recruit, educate, and train Stephen Ministers to offer Christ-centered care for members of our congregation and community. They are trained caregivers carefully chosen to be the hands and feet of Jesus to our own community of believers, freeing our rostered staff to address the many other responsibilities in sharing the Gospel and building our Faith Formation.
To accomplish this, we’ll be following a proven set of steps to make sure Stephen Ministry at Messiah is a vibrant, caring, and loving ministry for all of us. Periodically we will lead informational meetings to find each of our God-given gifts, identify people with a desire to help the ministry, and lead those who are willing to apply, train, and become Stephen Ministers. We will keep you informed as we go throughout this process.
In the meantime, we ask that you prayerfully consider what God is calling you to do. As God’s children, we are called to share our journey with other believers with encouragement, support, and love. A hurting person can find Christ-centered care through Stephen Ministry. Please be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
We ask for your prayers as we navigate through this process for the first time. We ask for God’s wisdom and the leading of the Holy Spirit as we set this ministry in motion. May God be with you.
