ASHES FOR ASH WEDNESDAY? ‘Imposition of Ashes’ is an option if you prepare them at home. Ashes from a fireplace, grill, or scraped from a charcoal briquet could be used. Or, any soil, including potting soil, would also work.
During the Streamed Service:
After the Confession of Sins, Pastor will trace a cross on his own forehead using ashes, then quote Genesis 3:19 saying, “Remember you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” As he speaks those words you may do the same at home. (If you do not have ‘ashes’, you may trace the cross on your forehead with your thumb.) If you are worshiping with others, you may put the cross on each other and speak the words from Genesis 3:19.
