Wednesday Night Cafe, “M3” Music Groups and an all-new Adult Bible Study start back up on Wednesday, September 11th.

Come and Support the MLC ALS Walk Team!

Wednesday Night Cafe takes place from 5:30 to 6:30 in MLC’s Parish Hall. This Wednesday, a Spaghetti Dinner to support MLC’s ALS Walk Team is being coordinated by Claire Strand. Come enjoy a range of pasta sauces, garlic bread and more. Donations greatly appreciated!

The North Alabama ALS Walk takes place on Saturday, October 26 at Hudson Alpha Institute of Huntsville located at (601 Genome Way NW, HSV). Walk registration begins at 10:00 a.m. The walk will begin at 11:00 a.m. The annual dinner helps the team raise awareness and remember loved ones with ALS in addition to raising money to reach the team fundraising goal. Members and friends not able to attend the dinner can financially support or join the walk team, by signing up at the “Still Steppin’ for Steve/Messiah Lutheran Church” team page being coordinated by Stephanie Gillespie. Member Denise Edge will be coordinating the walking team.

Wednesday Night Cafe provides a convenient and healthy way for members and youth to “catch dinner” while attending Wednesday night activities. It is also a time for fellowship as a church community. Wednesday Night Cafe will continue every Wednesday (except during school breaks) through May of 2020. During Lent, soup suppers replace the normal Cafe meals. Muriel Irvin has coordinated the schedule of weekly cooking teams for most of the year, though volunteers are still always needed for weekly tasks such as making tea and lemonade, setting up the Parish Hall, and cleaning up once everyone has been served.

Bible Calender and Bible

Read the Bible in a Year (the Class) begins Sep 11 in Room 11 & 12

Last December, a “Daily Bible Reading Calendar” was given to all members of the church as an effort to encourage more Bible reading. On Wednesday, September 11, at 6:30 pm in Classroom 10-11, a new class will be offered to help with that effort. During each class session, the Leader of the class will pick one of the reading for the current week (from the “Daily Bible Reading Calendar”) and lead a discussion on that reading. This discussion will last for ½ hour. During the remaining ½ hour the participants will be encouraged to talk about, discuss, or ask questions about any other reading for the week.

The class leaders will are Dick Azzam, Gary Heideman, and Bruce Machamer.

If you have misplaced your “Daily Bible Reading Calendar”, you can find the reading at the following web site: https://dailyway.com/ReadTheBibleOnline.html

If you have any questions, please contact any of the leaders.
